SR-71A #61-7951 is on display at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ under a "protective" canopy near the main entrance to the museum. Construction started on this aircraft on 6 December 1963 and first flew on 5 March 1965. Following the losses of YF-12As #06934 in August 1966 and #06936 in June 1971, SR-71A #61-7951 was loaned to NASA to complete their YF-12 research. However, it was re-designated YF-12C #06937 to cover up the fact that NASA was using an SR-71. Some photos of #951 as the YF-12C are available at the YF-12A #60-6935 page. However, this should not be confused with the real #06937, which is actually an A-12. However, because little was known of the A-12 program in the 1970s, the fake serial could be used to successfully dupe the public into thinking SR-71A #951 was a fourth YF-12. In October 1978, #951 returned to the USAF and completed its last flight shortly after on 22 December 1978.
